Class will out and The Sun Will Still Be There Tomorrow.

One of the best albums to come out in recent months is from one of the legends of the saxophone - Mr. Charles Lloyd. The Sun Will Still Be There Tomorrow is simply extraordinary.

Out now on Blue Note, this stunning double album features some of the younger but experienced musicians around in jazz today - Jason Moran (piano), Larry Grenadier (bass) and Brian Blade (drums).

Lloyd features heavily in DownBeat Magazine's 2024 poll, winning Jazz Album of the Year, as well as Hall of Fame and Artist of the Year.

From the first track to the last, Charles Lloyd is outstanding on The Sky Will Still Be There Tomorrow. Released on the man's 86th birthday, this album confirms his role as one of the most significant musicians of the 20th and 21st centuries.

More than 'just' a sax player, Lloyd chooses flute for tracks such as the beautiful Booker's Garden. The album's opening track - Defiant, Tender Warrior - is a wistful yet complex track that demonstrates the skills of the whole quartet, especially as Moran's piano weaves around the sax.

One of the finest tracks is also one of the most recent - The Ghost of Lady Day is one of six first-time recordings of new Lloyd compositions. Free and ephemeral this shows off both the sax and the quartet as a whole in all their glory.

Listen to The Ghost Of Lady Day here.
